Reporter Profile:

Prof. QIU Haijun is Vice Dean, Professor, and Doctoral Supervisor at the College of Urban and Environmental Sciences, Northwest University. He is a high-level leading scientific and technological talent recognized by the Ministry of Natural Resources, a leading talent for scientific and technological innovation under the Shaanxi High-level Talent Special Support Program, a Distinguished Young Scholar of Shaanxi Province, and was awarded the title of “Most Beautiful Geographic Science Worker” by the Geographical Society of China.

He has presided over four National Natural Science Foundation of China projects, sub-projects under the National Key R&D Program, key projects funded by the Bureau of International Cooperation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, sub-topics under the Second Comprehensive Scientific Expedition to the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and several key R&D projects of Shaanxi Province. He has published over 110 SCI-indexed and other papers as first or corresponding author. He has authored five monographs and holds 15 domestic and international invention patents. As the first contributor, he has received multiple scientific research awards, including the Youth Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Society of Soil and Water Conservation and the First Prize of Scientific and Technological Research Achievements in Higher Education Institutions of Shaanxi Province.

He also serves as a committee member of the Geomorphology and Quaternary Section of the Geographical Society of China, a council member of the Intelligent Monitoring Division of Geological and Geotechnical Engineering of the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering, and a member of the Landslide and Debris Flow Control Committee of the Chinese Society of Soil and Water Conservation.
