Lecturer profile:

Luo Yali, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology. She serves as the Chief Scientist of a national key research and development program. Her main research focuses on the mechanisms and numerical simulation of cloud precipitation processes, as well as extreme weather phenomena such as heavy rainfall and severe convection. She has published nearly a hundred papers in important academic journals both domestically and internationally, with over 80 papers included in SCI-indexed publications. Currently, she serves as an editorial board member for professional journals such as Geoscience Letters, Acta Meteorologica Sinica, Meteorological Monthly, and Advances in Meteorological Science and Technology. She has been selected as one of the leading scientific talents by the China Meteorological Administration and has received several awards, including the Zou Jingmeng Meteorological Science and Technology Talent Award and the collective achievement award from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Previously, she served as the Co-Chair of the Intense Monsoon Weather Expert Team under the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), Chief Scientist of the Southern China Monsoon Rainfall Experiment under the WMO World Weather Research Program (WWRP), and a member of the Process and Predictability Working Group of the WMO High Impact Weather Research Program. She is currently a member of the Global Precipitation Experiment (GPEX) Science Team under WMO and a member of the Scientific Steering Committee of the WMO/WWRP China Committee. She was a lead author of the Special Report on Extreme Weather and Climate Events (SREX) by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and a member of the core writing team for the Chinese SREX report.
